PARALLEL SHANK ADAPTOR 14656

The shank measures 38mm (1.1/2″) diameter x 61mm (2.3/8″) long, and is left soft so that it may be milled or turned.The adaptor nose is threaded 1.1/8 x 12 TPI Whitworth. The adaptor is designed so that the shank may be modified by turning or milling to suit the users own partuicular requirements, i.e. mill two parallel flats along the shank. The adaptor may then be securely mounted in a bench vice or milling machine vice. This will permit the user to remove a chuck, complete with part milled components, from the lathe to do either some additional bench work or milling on the component, before returning the chuck and undisturbed component back to the lathe for additional turning without loss of concentricity.
